Oblivion
was the surprise winner at this year’s Spike Video
Game Awards, earning an upset win as Game of the
Year over the heavily favoured X Box 360 game
Gears of War, as well as a mild upset as RPG of
the Year over the PlayStation 2’s Final Fantasy
XII. The game well deserves the praise though.
Despite some questionable and often downright
ugly character designs, the depth of game play,
intricate story, music and graphics all deliver
